Statistics Canada has started a large hiring campaign across Ontario for positions supporting the 2026 Census. The federal agency is recruiting workers for payroll, recruitment, and field operations as preparation begins for the next national population count.

According to Immigration News Canada (INC), more than 77 locations across the province now have openings for Pay Clerks, Recruitment Clerks, and Field Operations Supervisors, forming one of the largest current federal hiring initiatives in Ontario.

Census hiring expands across Ontario

INC informs that the 2026 Census requires a significant workforce to manage recruitment, data collection, field coordination, and administrative processing.

Ontario, as the province with the largest population, is a major focus of the hiring effort. Positions are open in large cities, small towns, and remote regions, with applicants not required to hold a university degree.
