The Dangote Refinery will start direct supply of petrol to filling stations across Nigeria from Sept. 15 at a gantry price of ₦820 per litre, the company said on Thursday.
Retail pump prices will vary by state, with Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, and Ekiti set at ₦841 per litre, while Abuja, Delta, Rivers, Edo and Kwara will sell at ₦851 per litre, according to Dangote refinery’s statement.
The 650,000-barrel-per-day plant said it would deliver petrol free of charge to registered filling station owners. Initial distribution will cover selected states before expanding nationwide.
The announcement came hours after the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) placed its members on “red alert” following what it described as Dangote Group’s decision to renege on an earlier government-brokered agreement.
NUPENG said in a statement signed by its president, William Akporeha, and general secretary, Afolabi Olawale, that it was preparing for the possible resumption of a suspended nationwide strike.
The refinery provided an enquiry line and an email address for marketers to register.
