New Zealand Unveils System for Easier Visa Application Sharing, Collaboration

Immigration New Zealand (INZ) introduces a new system to simplify how immigration advisers, law firms, and applicants share and collaborate on visa applications.

This digital upgrade seeks to improve coordination, speed up decision-making, and enhance transparency in the visa process. The initiative will benefit both current and future users of New Zealand’s visa systems.

According to a recent announcement from Immigration New Zealand, the system supports two platforms: the existing Immigration Online system and the newly introduced Enhanced Immigration Online system. These platforms are intended to create a smoother, more efficient process for users globally.

The Enhanced Immigration Online system, in particular, aims to streamline application procedures and enhance user experience by incorporating advanced technologies. Furthermore, this initiative aligns with the country’s commitment to modernising immigration services and ensuring a seamless process for individuals seeking entry to New Zealand.

Two Systems, One Goal: Better Visa Application Collaboration

As part of its ongoing transition to a more simplified online system, INZ now offers two ways to share and manage visa applications, depending on the platform users are accessing.

The current system allows visa applications to be shared within a “firm,” a feature designed to provide group access to applications.

To set up a firm, users must first enable client application management in their profile. After this, they can create a firm, such as “Student Visa Team” or “Skilled Migrant Applications.”

The firm’s administrator has control over access, assigning different roles to users and deciding who can view or edit applications. Administrators can also invite or remove users and delegate admin rights.

Sharing in the Enhanced Immigration Online System

The newly launched system allows users to share visa applications with individuals or entire networks, offering a more flexible approach to collaboration. This is particularly useful for applicants working directly with advisers or for law firms and consultancy teams that handle multiple applications.

To share an application in this system, users must first confirm that the recipient has an Immigration Online account. They then need to request the recipient’s sharing ID and email before locating the visa application on their dashboard. From there, the user can share the application using an options menu. Collaborators can gain access by sharing their unique sharing ID or providing it to sponsors.

What To Note

The upgraded system offers several benefits to international students, skilled workers, sponsoring family members, and immigration consultants. By improving accessibility and coordination, the new platform aims to reduce delays in the visa application process and enhance overall efficiency.

As New Zealand continues its digital transformation in immigration services, these changes make the visa application process more collaborative, user-friendly, and quicker. Global applicants now have the opportunity to experience faster response times and better support from their representatives.
