The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has issued a warning about a rise in fraudulent visa and residency services advertised online.
The ICP cautions residents and visitors against offers of “express visa approval” or “priority UAE residency” through unofficial channels.
According to TravelBiz, the ICP noted that no private companies or social media accounts are authorised to speed up visa or residency applications, and that only the official ICP platforms and licensed service centres are legitimate.
Official Channels Only for Visa and Residency Applications
Reports cite that the ICP confirmed that all visa and residency procedures must be completed through the official ICP website, the ICP mobile app, or government-approved typing centres and service offices. And any service outside these platforms should be treated with suspicion.
Details indicate that authorities have observed a surge in online scams where agencies claim to have “government connections” or “inside access” in return for higher fees. The ICP, in response, is monitoring these fraudulent websites and social media pages and working with legal bodies to shut them down.
Risks of Using Unofficial Services
The ICP warned that handing over passport details, Emirates ID numbers, or bank information to unauthorised parties can lead to financial loss and security threats. “
UAE officials urge visa seekers to avoid social media ads and third-party agents promising faster processing for extra fees. They recommend reporting suspicious offers to authorities.
It is related that sticking to official channels does not guarantee shortcuts but ensures a safe and legitimate process. A process that guarantees safety.
Residents, visitors, and citizens are advised to verify any visa or residency service through the ICP website or authorised centres before proceeding. The UAE government continues to promote transparent and secure application methods to protect applicants from fraud.
