Russia’s government says fuel shortages that have pushed prices up 10% this year will soon be fixed. The shortages followed drone attacks on refineries, cutting supplies and leaving long lines at gas stations.
Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said the country’s top priority is to keep gasoline flowing to every region. “Yes, prices have gone up, but we must protect local economies and ensure that transport and social services keep running,” he said.
Experts say the situation is improving as refineries resume work and new routes open. Energy analyst Igor Yushkov told Reuters that “the worst may soon be over.”
Still, the rise in fuel costs adds pressure on Russian families already facing inflation and war-related spending. The government has pledged to stabilize supplies before the cold winter months ahead.
