Australian Flinders University Offers Fully Funded Government Research Scholarships for International Students

Applications are now open for the Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship (AGRTPS) – International 2025 at Flinders University.

The scholarship offers international students financial support to undertake a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) in Australia, covering tuition fees, a living stipend, and relocation assistance.

According to Flinders University, the AGRTPS (International) is funded by the Australian Government and supports up to six international applicants annually who show strong academic performance and research potential.

Scholarship Details and Financial Support

The AGRTPS (International) 2025 provides selected candidates with full financial support to complete a Master’s by research or a PhD at Flinders University.

  • An annual stipend of AUD 35,010 (2025 rate), paid fortnightly and tax-free
  • Full tuition fee coverage for up to four years
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
  • A relocation allowance of up to AUD 1,485, reimbursed with receipts for travel and settling in Adelaide

This support is meant to assist international students with living and study-related expenses while undertaking full-time research.

Eligibility Requirements for AGRTPS Applicants

To apply for the AGRTPS (International) 2025, candidates must meet a set of eligibility conditions. These include:

  • Citizenship of a country other than New Zealand and not holding Australian citizenship or permanent residency
  • First-time enrollment in a full-time Higher Degree by Research (HDR) in Australia
  • Application in a research area aligned with Flinders University’s research strengths
  • Proof of English language proficiency as required by the university
  • Fulfilment of academic and admission requirements for HDR programs at Flinders

A competitive academic background is essential. In previous years, successful applicants typically submitted strong research proposals and up to five research publications that received high evaluation scores.

Required Documents and Application Process

Applicants must prepare and submit several documents to be considered for the scholarship. The submission checklist includes:

  • Informal agreement from a potential Flinders University research supervisor
  • Certified and translated academic transcripts
  • A research proposal (approximately 500 words)
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) listing academic and research experience
  • Up to five publications with cover sheets and English summaries
  • Two academic referee reports sent directly to Flinders by the referees
  • Proof of English language proficiency (as per university requirements)

All application components must be submitted following Flinders University’s guidelines. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
